Company Profile

Mediaservices was established in 1995 as a media consultancy with emphasis on media training and liaison.

Operated by a group of seasoned media specialists familiar with all aspects of the media, Mediaservices is based in Johannesburg but operates throughout the Southern African sub-continent.  It has a mutual assistance agreement with Gillmeister Inc., a New York-based media consultancy.

Headed up by award-winning foreign correspondent, Gerry Pieterse, Mediaservices has consulted for some of the largest technology companies in South Africa.

Mediaservices is not a public relations company and does not do anything outside of the direct media arena.

Our specific areas of expertise are media training and the preparation and distribution of media releases.

We train company executives in effective ways of communicating with the media and in how to gain maximum benefit from interacting with the media.

We are directly focused on the issues of effective media communication and getting our clients in print.

Training courses are individually tailored to meet the needs of specific companies or specific individuals within companies.

Course length is usually half a day for print media and radio. Additional time has to be allowed for television training.

Both training and the preparation of media releases are undertaken on a project basis and are billed on a pre-arranged set of parameters.

Recent clients include Dimension Data, Oracle, Canon South Africa, Computer Configurations, Seagate Technology, African Renaissance Holdings and Debis.

Mediaservices has a strong empowerment emphasis.

Empowerment is of particular importance and to that end, Mediaservices has canvassed business in the sector. A particularly proud achievement has been the empowerment deal between New African Renaissance Holdings and IT corporate, Debis.

Managed by Fasedemi Newman Leo Burnett, Mediaservices was responsible for the preparation of all media releases and imaging as well as assisting with distribution.

The media launch netted unprecedented coverage in a wide range of mainstream publications including Business Day, Business Report, Financial Mail, Finance Week, Mail & Guardian, The Sunday Times, IT Web and a host of specialist publications.

Offices are situated in Linden, Johannesburg, and a 24-hour emergency media liaison backup service is available.

The two principals are Gerry Pieterse and Ian Morgan.

Both are 30-year veterans of the mainstream international media and have expertise in print, radio and television.

Morgan as proprietor of Morgan Media has had his empowerment credentials accepted by IBM.
